The Dolphin Flower Dance
I have six photos posted, of a particular, intense and active play of the dolphins. I call it The Dolphin Flower Dance.
It is something that fills me with joy as I watch and join in when invited.
In my experience, usually anywhere from five to twenty dolphins dive down and swim very close together,
bodies touching much of the time. Various movements from rubbing up against each other, vibrating a pec fin on another dolphin,
gentle biting, chasing one another, slowly spiraling and rolling off each other's bodies...
All this accompanied by intense singing, loud and constant,
creates a massive, sound-filled, kaleidoscopic, unfolding flower of Cetacean joy!
